The Silk Read is UAE’s first curated book subscription. Every month, subscribers receive new books based on their reading level and age. Our mission is to reroute literacy to build and support family and community cohesion. We aim to channel the act of reading toward supporting and strengthening the bonds between family and community members.

The Silk Read is a play on words, referring to The Silk Road. The Silk Road was a network of trade routes connecting China and the Far East with the Middle East and Europe establish by the Han dynasty in 130 BC. In the days before same day delivery, The Silk Road connected the world. Merchants and tradesmen traveled in large caravans. They would have many guards with them. Traveling in a big group like a caravan helped in defending from bandits. Camels were popular animals for transport because much of the road was through dry and harsh land. Just as The Silk Road connected the world, The Silk Read aims to connect families. Stories can connect family across generations and connect nations. But in this sea of stories, some shine and some bite, and some do both.How can parents and children navigate and keep safe in this sea? Travel with us by the Silk Read–we’ll guide you. Just as the Silk Road connected people and cultures ages ago, the Silk Read aims to connect people today, especially across generations and cultures, strengthening families and communities.
